Once upon a time I used to teach cooking classes at elementary school aftercare programs. In theory it was an amazing initiative. The kids had gardens on site and I was suppose to show them different ways they could cook what they grew…

without using knives

or heating elements

or basically anything else that you find in a kitchen.

I guess we were all suppose to be raw vegans. In the end it proved to be something that pushed me out of my comfort zone and the kids enjoyed it a lot. One of my most popular recipes was the Pb& J smoothie, because it actually tasted like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and what kid doesn’t love that? Excluding those with allergies of course.

I’m going on record and saying that you and your family will love this as well. There are so many different variations that you can literally make this smoothie your own way. Take it and run with it!

Just not into anyone that has a nut allergy… that wouldn’t end well at all.



Pb&J Smoothie


I cup of spinach
1/2 cup of rolled oats
1 cup of vanilla (or not) almond milk (any other milk will substitute)
1 pitted date or 1tbsp of another sweetener (stevia, honey, etc)
1/2 cup blueberries frozen
1/4 strawberries frozen
1/4 grapes frozen
1/2 frozen banana
1-2 tbsp of nut butter (almond, peanut, etc)
1/4 cup of greek yogurt (optional for a thicker smoothie)


Add your date and spinach first to make sure they get blended thoroughly.
Add all other ingredients and blend well.


This is super easy and fun for everyone!!
